What a super website! I was surfing for info on datura stramonium as I remembered it being very toxic to livestock. Your article spelled it all out very clearly and in fascinating detail. I then looked for castor oil (another invasive species we have to deal with here) and which I am aware is also toxic. I had to log in to find the ricinus article and how glad I am that I did. FYI I am in Usa River, northern Tanzania, East Africa, about 25 km outside Arusha town. My friends graze horses sheep and pigs on these affected pastures and I am very concerned. We have had some marvellous much-needed rain at last, which has brought up the "weeds" as well as the grass! Time for some paddock maintenance, that's for sure.

Henrietta, you have done a phenomenal job on your informational website, and I sincerely thankyou for this resource! I want to list you in my Links page on my site. So many can benefit from your work. I am adding your excellent picture of poison ivy to my site; "Medicine Woman" and "Aromatherapy"...it's the best picture I've seen, and people have so often asked me to explain the plant to them.

Ah, God? Now that I have your attention - please do something about the pope and his view on contraceptives (the ultimate WHY of quite a lot of the suffering in Africa), and please also check into the atrocities your variously named followers (christians, muslims, jews) do in the middle east. I'm thinking about being made fun of by what question I ask but I'm use to it so I'll ask anyway..My interest in herbs exceed my knowledge for them so I need all the help I can get. I want to grow herbs here in my Louisiana yard and don't want to be to dissappointed (like i was when i spent $50 on non-hybrid, no gmo seed this past spring and got nothing to survive). I am trying to learn about what may already be growing around me so I can make use of it naturally, without planting. Is there anything you can pass along to me that might be helpful? I would love some pictures and just plain names. If you can steer me in any direction to help me out I would be so appreciative....I live in north-central Louisiana..about zone 8...I am use to the joking and being made fun of,,,just laugh it off.....thanks,,,,sonja

Hej Henriette,

I have just looked at your photos and noticed Maachia amurensis photographed in Göteborg. Since Gbg is my hometown I wonder where you photographed it. In Trädgårdsföreningen eller Botaniska Trädgården ute i Änggården.

I am also interested in Macleya cordata. Where was it photographe. I saw a similar plant in the highlands of Tibet in June this year. It is a Papaveraceae, inte sant. Does it grow wild in Sweden?

Svara helst på svenska om du är svensk. Min finska är begränsad till yksi, kaks, osv. Förlåt frågorna. Din hemsida är väldigt intressant och jag har kollat växterna en hel del. Visst är det naturligt att fråga. Jag är intresserad i medicinalväxter. Detta är inte en fråga!

I am biotechnologist and farmer in Hyderabad India. I grow number of medicinal plants
for the treatment of Sugar and lipid reductions. Have good results.
