Fenchel auf Schwedisch heißt "fänkål" und nicht "fänkol". Diese beiden Wörter werden tatsächlich sehr unterschiedlich ausgesprochen. (Allerdings gibt es "fänkol" nicht im Schwedischen.)

En gång till: jag ändrar inte på de gamla texterna. Om Madaus skriver fänkol så får han gärna göra det.

Hi, just found your site via a link from rain-tree.com and thought I would say Hi.

I am interested in herbal remedies as I no longer believe in pumping my body full of synthetic drugs for any ailment.

I went shopping for the herb sorrel, cause I read it helps to cure cancer, but I could not find it in any of the stores around the town I live in. Do you know how I can get some?

You'll find it out behind the stores, growing happily in wastelands. HOWEVER: the idea that "it cures cancer" is silly. All cancers are different, and none of them are cured by any given "magic herb" (or magic pill). Get thee to a practitioner and work with him / her.

I am new to aromatherapy and am trying to learn all I can about it. I have no trust in the AMA and am trying to make my own recipes using herbs. I appreciate any info I can get. Thank you. God Bless. Patty

Hi Henriette-
Your site is wonderful! I have had an interest in herbalism for many years and upon finding myself living in France with some time on my hands, am going to finally get serious about learning all I can about herbs. I'll be viewing your site frequently (I found it randomly through key word searching). Just wanted to let you know I'm excited to explore your site more over the course of my studies (I plan on taking some sort of basic distance/online course and supplementing this with readings suggested by you and other herbalists).

Hi Henriette,
I want to complement you on the best, most comrehensive website for herbs ever! I have been educating myself for a couple of years now and my internet searched always bring me to your site to get my questions answered and I find the greatest tips here. For example I just found the recipe for making SJW oil and read that when you do the sunny windowseal method the herbs can get moldy. That is what happens to me all the time so I was thrilled to find your oil recipe.

Anyway... I love your writing style too and I'm always entertained when I come here.

I am so gratefull for for this page,we where told about a medicinal tea for my husbands stomach ills. All i had was a german name for this herb and searched for a botanical name, could not get an answer until I came across your page, problem solved. Thank you, thank you.

Great site and terrific information! I'll make bold to add two small items; both are from my grandmother.

For small infestations of poison ivy in the yard, dousing each plant with a full kettle of boiling water will kill them.

For mosquito bites, licking (or spitting) on the bite and then rubbing table salt on it will draw the poison from the bite and it will not itch again. Let the salt dry and fall off naturally (or rub it off when you go to bed if it's still there). Using water doesn't work nearly as well -- something in spit helps enormously.
