Menthol 5.00 | 1 ounce
Oil of Eucalyptus 10.00 | 2 fl. ounces
Essential Oil of Camphor 25.00 | 5 fl. ounces
Methyl Salicylate to 100.00 | to 20 fl. ounces

Dissolve the menthol in the liquids.

This liniment is miscible with either spirit or oil, and is used to paint over rheumatic joints or neuralgic areas, the parts being covered subsequently with flannel or gutta-percha tissue.

COMPOUND LINIMENT OF METHYL SALICYLATE.

Menthol 5.00 | 1 ounce
Chloral Hydrate 5.00 | 1 ounce
Extract of Indian Hemp 0.50 | 44 grains
Essential Oil of Camphor 25.00 | 5 ounces
Methyl Salicylate to 100.00 | to 20 ounces

Triturate the extract with the menthol and chloral hydrate, dissolve the mixture in the essential oil of camphor, and make up to the required volume with methyl salicylate; set aside for twenty-four hours; filter.
